The Fire Marshal for Onalaska is a commissioned peace officer of the City of Onalaska and licensed as a peace officer by the State of Texas. The Fire Marshal has full police authority with the ability to issue citations, make arrests, and present criminal charges to the Municipal Court, County Court at Law, and District Courts.
Duties of the Fire Marshal consist of having the role as lead investigator on all suspicious fires, Code Enforcement, which consists of enforcing the Health and Safety codes of the City and State, and enforcing local and State environmental laws.
The Fire Marshal although working independently of each, also assists the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department with calls and assists the Onalaska Police Department with law enforcement duties.
